The Polka Hop is home to regular events including Wakefield Artwalk, regular Folk Club sessions, Open Mic evenings and a wide variety of live artists besides.

Parents Coffee Morning

Fiona opens our doors to parents for our Parents Coffee Morning. A safe space to get out the house, have a cuppa and chat to other like-minded people while the kids can enjoy playing with toys or a lie down on a playmat.
Thursday mornings 10am - 12pm

Dave's Song & Tune Session

Our twice-montly chilled acapella folk session - bring an instrument and join in.
1st and 3rd Sunday of each month from 2pm

Wakefield Artwalk

We're a top destination on the bi-monthly Artwalk with work by local artists on the walls.
Always available, exhibitions rotate every 2 months

Sarah Connell, Local Author

Come and meet Sarah Connell who will discuss her novel about the migration crisis ‘Where Are You Now?’. The character of the asylum seeker in the story is based on a real person who came to Wakefield District City of Sanctuary for help. Sarah was first published at the age of 70 and now has three novels, with another one on the way. Wakefield is the setting for her writing and her characters. Sarah will talk about how she came to be published and what she has learnt in the process.
